Hello; My name is Brian. Thank you for taking the time to acquaint yourself with my credentials. I look forward to the opportunity to assist you! Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I graduated from Cal-State Hayward, with a B.A. in Speech-Communication, with a minor in Radio-TV. GPA: 3.8. I also attended and graduated from a business school, in Sacramento, CA, called Barclay College, where I earned a Paralegal Certificate. GPA: 4.0. Upon graduating from Cal State Hayward, I entered into the airline/travel industry. When I considered a career in the airline industry, I attended an airline/travel school in Oakland, CA called, "Aero Career Academy". "Aero Career Academy", was sponsored by World Airways, and SFO Helicopter. This was a 12 week course, 4 days/nights per week. During the 12 week course, we were taught how to read the OAG (Official Airline Guide), prepare and write airline tickets (this was before the internet took over the airline/travel industry), customer service skills, airline security, CPR/First Aid, flight attendant skills, evacuation drills, baggage handling, making reservations for airline tickets, car rentals, hotels, cruises, and even Amtrak. The goal was, to prepare us to work in a variety of airline/travel positions. From 1982-1996, I worked as an airline ticket/gate agent/trainer/instructor for large and small airlines. From 2002-2013, I worked as an Airline Flight Attendant, with Comair, and then, Chautauqua Airlines. While residing in Arizona from 1996-2002, I also worked as the Public Address Announcer for college football, college basketball, and minor league professional baseball (Tucson Toros). In addition to my airline/travel career, I also owned a successful retail map/book store, which was located in southern Arizona. I have tutored elementary, and high school students in US/World Geography, map reading skills, creative writing, study skills, as well as speech writing and public speaking. I have also tutored prospective airline flight attendants, on how to apply to work with an airline, how to prepare to attend an airline flight attendant "open house/group interview" event, and how to prepare for the 4-6 weeks of initial flight attendant training. At the present time, I am writing a book for prospective airline flight attendants. The book is part story, part information. I am including stories and information, to help people decide, whether or not to pursue an airline flight attendant career.
Experience
While I owned a retail map/book store in southern Arizona, I conducted free classes on US/World Geography, and map reading skills. In addition, I have tutored elementary and high school students in US/World Geography, Map Reading Skills, Commercial airline history, creative writing, study skills, and public speaking. While working in the airline industry, I met many different people each day. As an airline flight attendant, I worked in many different roles: Safety coordinator, greeter, server, caterer, psychologist, referee, temporary doctor, public address announcer, enforcer, the "face" of your airline, cleaner, trash pick up. During my airline and retail career, I learned to be very organized, punctual, work smart, think "outside the box", and be able to multi task effectively. I have found, attitude is everything. Even if I do not have the experience in a particular field, with a positive attitude, I can achieve just about anything. I look forward to working with a wide variety of students!
